CIC nanoGUNE and Donostia International Physics Center (DIPC) propose the nanoKOMIK challenge 2017 that put together comic and science. The challenge will have two categories: 1) aimed at youngsters from 14 to 18 years of age, and 2) people older than 18 years of age. The challenge aims to generate original stories and innovative ideas which will be recreated in a participatory nanofiction comic. As a novelty, the winner of the adult category will have the possibility to create the collective comic.

HOW TO CREATE YOUR NANOKOMIK - It's easy!

The challenge is to create a graphic story about a female or male comic superhero with "nanopowers", i.e., sophisticated skills or powers acquired through nanoscience and nanotechnology. To do so, you need to know the following:

  • How to create the nanopower: to create the character's power or skill you can browse the nanopowers and the amazing properties of the materials behind each nanopower. This exercise will inspire you to create a new nanopower or propose a new version of an already existing nanopower.
  • How to create a comic: the main steps to follow for comic creation can be checked on the website.
  • Deadline: from 1st April to 11 June.
  • Languages: Basque, Spanish, French and English.
  • ormat: The minimum length for category A will be 1 page and maximum will be 2 pages. The minimum length for category B will be 2 pages and maximum will be 4 pages. The comic story will adjust to DIN-A dimensions with any size between A4 and A3. The work must be presented digitalised with 300 dpi resolution.F
  • Prizes: In category A (14-18 years) prizes worth €250 and €150 each. In category B (> 18 years) the prizes will be €500 and €300, and the possibility to create the collective comic. The public award (worth 100€) will be voted on the website.
